Abstract
The LDPC decoder for perpendicular magnetic recording channel with burst is studied. A new sumproduct LDPC decoder with a burst position and length detector is proposed. The proposed system has the tolerance to a burst of 400 bits, while the conventional system has that of only 150 bits.
