There are two problems in the application of inverse halftoning using the minimum mean square method. One is that the estimated image is a point with few changes in and the noise increases if the calculation area is a small. The other problem is taht the edge of the estimated image blurs when the calculation area is large. We have developed a method that overcomes these two problems by using a calculation area that varies with the change in the tone.
