A novel method to construct RLL-conform ECC, based on regular RLL encoder and regular ECC, is proposed. The(d, k)constraint and the error correction capability can be combined flexiby. The code is easy to construct with higher efficiency than earlier approaches. The asymptotical coding rate achieves the coding rate of the RLL code. Encoding and decoding procedures are straightforward. The application of such code in magnetic recording channel is illustrated by an example. The performance of the example scheme is estimated. A procedure is addressed to minimize the overhead of the bridging sequence in practical applications.
