This paper will delve into translated works by Musa Liu, who has been translating Japanese works of literature into Chinese for nearly 50 years and has published over 50 translated works in Taiwan. Focusing on n-grams which are contiguous sequences of n words from Japanese source texts and Chinese translated texts, this paper will examine Musa Liu looking at her linguistic patterns to determine whether these patterns exist across various translations from different source texts. Through conducting a quantitative and qualitative analysis, this study endeavors to pinpoint and discuss Liu’s individual linguistic features while providing insight on the “voice” or “marks” of a translator and the nature of translation.
