Abstract
The authors have been studying the method that makes a mobile robot learn its path and travel autonomously by means of significant point images such as turning points taken by a digital camera. The robot travels confirming landmarks at the significant points. In case of a long distance between the significant points, the robot might become difficult to recognize the landmarks. Therefore, we propose the new method that the robot recognizes the both sides of its path and travels along it between significant points. Experimental results confirm the validity of the method.
