Abstract
While teaching Portuguese as a liberal arts subject at a university, it was observed that some students, even in their second year of study, still struggled to acquire correct Portuguese pronunciation. To address this issue, an 'in-class recitation contest' was introduced in a class for second-year students, with all students participating. By analyzing the reflection sheets, it was found that participation in the recitation contest had various effects, such as providing an opportunity for students to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for independently learning pronunciation.
