Abstract
This paper aims to comprehensively clarify the language-related abilities of Japanese language learners in relation to the new skill of drawing in language education. To achieve this, we implemented the Kamishibai activity, which is part of multilingual education in Europe, and examined the development of abilities that are not easily apparent in Japanese language learners by synthesising the activities of "drawing", "writing" and "telling" that are recognised in the unique Japanese culture of Kamishibai. These abilities extend beyond the use of Japanese and should be positioned as emerging competencies.
