Abstract
This essey analyzes what ideological influence of the philosophy of Japan gave to the birth of coaching. Through Japanese martial arts we got the hypothesis that Zen's way of thinking is influencing the birth of coaching through the Esalen Institute, but with the conclusion that It is difficult to prove that there was a direct ideological influence is there. But also, it is difficult to prove that there was no influence, too.I can believe that this conclusion make use for the development of current and future coaching.
