This study assesses the level of computerization in three healthcare institutions of Japan and two healthcare institutions of Kenya. It uses data collected through a pre-tested questionnaire distributed to 390 and 109 healthcare workers in Japan and Kenya respectively.
The study finds that many tasks in the responding institutions of Japan have been computerized more than in the responding institutions of Kenya. It also finds that study respondents in Japan are having better Information Technology(IT) skills than the study respondents in Kenya. Also, even though computerized tasks are lacking in Kenya, the study finds that respondents in Kenya desire to have the tasks computerized more than the respondents in Japan. However, the respondents from the two countries demonstrated somewhat similar positive attitude towards computerization in healthcare.
