Prosthetists and orthotists （POs） are qualified by a state examination as certified technicians. POs are responsible for casting the patient body and designing and manufacturing appropriate medical equipment such as prostheses and orthotics according to a doctor’s prescription. To accomplish their work, various skills and knowledge are required, such as manufacturing technology, experimental medicine and communication with patients. In recent years, we have been working on esthetic products by putting our knowledge and skills to use; epitheses are one of those products.
Arizono Orthopedic Supplies has contributed to the progress of medical and welfare devices in Kitakyushu City since its founding in 1910, and started manufacturing epitheses in 2017. The present writer is in charge of the production and fitting of prosthetic fingers and artificial breasts.
