In order to realize a decarbonized society, it is essential to address this issue in urban planning as well. This article focuses on two urban models that have been attracting attention in recent years, the compact city and the smart city, and discusses the future of cities. Comparing the two models, the goal of creating a sustainable society is the same, but the means and theories are very different. Therefore, I will present the Smart Sharing City as a new urban model for wisely sharing space and time, and describe the path to its realization.
