In this research, we consider a serial production line as a part of a business process, and study some effective methods to improve the system performance with an analytical approach. The theory of token transaction systems is employed. We evaluate the system performance with respect to the average work-in-process (WIP) and the system throughput. By using the concept of critical circuits and applying the Little's law, the performance measures are calculated.
