The core functions of shopping districts(SDs) are to enhance both economic and social activities in local communities. This study is to analyze quantitative relations between community ties and SDs, and community ties and application of ICT. We verified applicability of ICT to enhance social capital(SC) index in local communities. We found that higher SC index activates social functions of SDs, and that urban (bridging) type SDs are aggressive to introduce ICT than local (bonding) type SDs. Further, we will expand the survey area to assure our verification.
