Abstract

Solar cell market is increasing. The solar cell share of Japan rapidly fell from 50% in 2004 to 9% in 2010. On the other hand, China drastically increased the production share to 43% in 2010, and overwhelms foreign countries. Why could China become number 1 in the solar cell? There are many similarities of technologies among solar cell, semiconductor and LCD. The solar cell has very simple process. Therefore, it is easy to lean and transfer the maturated semiconductor technologies to the solar cell technology. Thus, China entered to the PV business and grew it to No. 1.
