Abstract
The SIG-ISRM has been discussing methodological potential of qualitative inquiries with their philosophical assumptions to explore the effective methods in IS research. The SIG has been also focusing on the mixed methods research (MMR) and the design science research (DSR), and discussing these philosophical assumptions and the applicability to IS research. In the workshop, a SIG member will be giving the participants an outline of MMR, DSR and their relationship to IS and discussing relationship between MMR and DSR and their significance in IS research by focusing on pragmatism and critical realism as epistemology and ontology. Discussing whether or not the critical realism-based MMR and DSR could contribute to IS research in our country and exploring what should be done in our community.
