Emerging “Crowdinnovation"

Merits and Demerits of Innovation which is created by Crowd using Information Technologies

Abstract

Innovations are usually created by the professionals of manufacturing, such as researchers and developers etc. Hippel has pioneered the concept of "user innovation". By the development of Information technology (IT), the following concepts have existed to obtain something from “crowd" by IT. They are “crowdfunding" to obtain funds, and “crowdsourcing" to get human resources. By the strategy to select and integrate these systems, the innovation, which general public (crowd) is the center, became possible. I have already proposed the concept as "crowdinnovation." The merits and demerits of "crowdinnovation" are analyzed comparing to former innovations.
