Competitive Strategy Aassociated with "Modularity" of Information Devices Smartphone

From Case Analysis of Sharp and China's Smartphone Development

Abstract

Smartphone will exceed PC in 2016 sales. But Japan suffers a crushing defeat in the world smartphone market. To clarify the cause, cases of smartphone developments at Sharp and China were analyzed by focusing on the change to the "modularity". In China, the processor manufacturer or design house supply the "reference" or "design drawing ", and then anyone can create the smartphone based on the documents. The new strategy model, which can early provided the smartphone at low cost, is proposed in named "Open recommended modular" type architecture. Japan, it is difficult to correspond to this new model.
