External networks of museums and business process innovation

Abstract

Museums adapt to their environment in which they operate, they need to grow through innovation. The management resources possessed by each museums are limited, making it difficult for them to continuously innovate. This study has the research question of what kind of initiatives are necessary for museums with limited management resources to innovate. To clarify this, the plan of this research is to demonstrate the mechanism by which museums can generate innovation by actively exploring and utilizing external knowledge through collaboration with other organizations. This extend the mechanisms by which prior research on museum business model innovation impacts organizational performance.
