We have been developped an autocorrelation method by using multiphoton ionization of gases to characterize temporal profiles of subpicoseconed VUV pulses. The temporal profile of fs laser pulses in the infrared was well characterized by the autocorrelator. This method will be applicable to pulse width measurement in the VUV spectral region.
