In this study, for further space-saving design of U-shaped folded dipole antena (UFDA) on a ground plane (GP), we propose a new layout of its named vertical UFDA (VUFDA), and apply PSO to optimize the shape of VUFDA to cover two WiMAX bands, and moreover to minimize the physical antenna area on GP.
