A Development of Calligraphy Skill Training System using Augumented Reality

In this paper, we develop a system for training calligrapical skills utilizing augumented reality (AR) technology and dynamic font method. The dynamic font method is employed to construct model characters, in which the characters are formed as the result of 3-dimensional motion of a virtual writing devices on a virtual writing plane. Then, by using AR, it is shown that not only static writing path but also dynamic writing process of model character can be given to some learner as visual information through a head mounted display. The usefulness is demonstrated by some experimental studies.
