In recent years, increasing traffic accidents caused by reverse running cars becomes a serious problem. There are few means for recognizing cars traveling the wrong way on one-way road. Because drivers usually don’t assume a reverse running car when traveling on a one-way road, they tend to become involved in an accident when they encounter the reverse running car. In this paper, we propose a method for preventing accidents by acquiring and analyzing car location, detecting a one-way road, communicating with surrounding cars using a Wi-Sun connection, a short-range communication standard, and giving an alert to each driver.
