Electrode double layer capacitor (EDLC) has received attention as a backup power source and power storage. Activated carbons are utilized for the electrodes of the EDLC, and the capacitance depends on the performance of this activated carbon. In this study, activated carbons were made from shochu waste for EDLC by microwaves. We have carried out experiment with different activation times under the conditions of a weight ratio 1: 3 for the shochu waste carbide and K2CO3, and a microwave output of 700 W. In addition, the capacitance and resistance of the prepared activated carbon was measured.
