Round bar speciments of seven different pottery bodies were used. Comparisons of modulus of rigidity before and after thermal shock were made, thermal shock having been produced by many cycles of heating in a furnace successibly higher temperatures 106-706°C. and cooling in 6°C. water.
Rusults indicates that failure of specimens were sharply detected by reduction of the modulus values and the testing procedure is very simple.
