Glasses with the batch composition (Tl2O3)x(SiO2)1−x (x = 0.20–0.40) were synthesized by melting a mixture of Tl2O3 and SiO2, and their electrical properties were investigated. It was confirmed that the Tl in the thallium silicate glasses existed in the mono- and trivalent states. The electrical conductivity of the (Tl2O3)x(SiO2)1−x glasses increased with an increase in the x value in the range of x = 0.20–0.40. The electrical conductivity of the glass with the batch composition of (Tl2O3)0.40(SiO2)0.60 [analyzed composition: (Tl1+2O)0.332(Tl3+2O3)0.061(SiO2)0.607] was 5.0 × 10−6, 2.4 × 10−5, and 9.6 × 10−5 S·cm−1 at 150, 200 and 250°C, respectively.
