The present paper investigates the influence of glare on the color appearance of objects by simulating a tunnel in a laboratory. Twenty fluorescent lamps were placed in both sides of a simulated tunnel entrance and the strength of glare was changed by lighting various number of the lamps. Inside the tunnel a colored test patch was presented for a short time to a subject staying outset at 3 m distance. The subject named the color of the patch by 11 basic colors wearing the cataract experiencing goggles. Without glare and without goggles a subject identified 20 test patches as green, for example, but the number reduced to only one patch when the glare lamps were increased to 40 lamps.
