大型風力発電システムの技術変遷と高温超伝導風力発電機の技術的現状

As a climate change countermeasure to limit the average temperature increase from pre-industrial times below 1.5 ℃, various efforts are being made to reach the neutrality of greenhouse gases by 2050. To realize the worldwide carbon neutrality, the extensive utilization of renewable energies is one of the key solutions. Among renewable energies, the wind power generation has the advantage of low generation cost and high capacity factor. The world's installed wind power capacity has reached 651 GW by the end of 2019 including the new installations of 60.4 GW. The annual growth rate in 2019 was about 9 %. The market for wind power generation is steadily expanding and various technologies are being actively developed. This article begins with the summary of the technology trends and transitions in large-scale wind power generation. As a representative and successful example of the recent HTS wind turbine generator developments, the results of the EcoSwing project are reviewed. According to the achievements of the EcoSwing project, the technology status of HTS wind turbine generators is discussed.
