A commercially available plain woven glass cloth filled (73 vol%) epoxy laminate having good mechanical and thermal properties in the laminated direction has been developed by the conventional hot press method. The thermal contraction down to liquid helium temperature and the Young's modulus at room temperature in the laminated direction were revealed to be 0.3% and 23GPa, respectively. The failure envelope under shear and compressive stresses was enlarged compared with that of conventional epoxy laminate, whereas the interlaminar shear strength was not confirmed to be decreased with 73 vol% glass content. The applicability of the newly developed epoxy laminate was confirmed.
