In this study, the effects of the addition of various amounts of silicon (Si) and chromium (Cr) on high temperature oxidation characteristics and mechanical properties of austenitic spheroidal graphite cast iron containing 12.5mass% nickel (Ni) and 7.5mass% manganese (Mn) were investigated. Even in compositions where a portion of Ni was replaced with Mn, the matrix structure obtained was mostly austenite at 213K to room temperature. The results of thermal expansion tests showed that austenitic spheroidal graphite cast iron does not have a clear Ac1 point. Metal oxidation at 1223K in mixed gas of oxygen and argon decreased with increasing amounts of Si and Cr added.
