Platycerus is widely distributed in China, Korea and Japan besides Europe and North America. It has been reported that one species of Platycerus (Platycerus hongwonpyoi) in Korea, ten species in Japan and about 27 species in China are distributed. In 2016-17, we collected Platycerus in nine sites of Shanxi and Sichuan provinces (China). Of them, we got 13 species of Platycerus. We analyzed two nuclear genes (Wingless and ITS) and one mitochondrial gene (COI). It aims to clarify the phylogeographic relationship of this genus between continental areas (China and Korea) and islands (Japan). We estimate the divergence time of the major clades. We also focus on the postero-lateral corners of beetle pronotum, and discuss about the evolution of R (round) type and S (sharp) type.
