Abstract
In the previous report the authors studied the effect of padding stitches on the constancy of the dimension of the lapel by measuring the ratio of the bending stiffness of fabrics before and after the padding stitch. In the present paper the authors have studied the naturally rolling form of lapel produced by the padding stitches. The tested materials are the four kinds of wool and two kinds of hemp paddings. The direction of lapel line and the padding technique are the same as those in the previous report. In order to measure the natural rolling the authors analized the lapel form on the Stuart and Baird method : A New Test for Bending Length.
The results obtained are as follows :
1. The lapel form depends on the kinds of padding materials and right and left front bodice fabrics.
2. The lapel form is changed by the position of lapel point.
3. The lapel form is much more influenced by the width of the margin of the collar position at the front bodice rather than the elongation and contraction produced by the various padding techniques.
