Equilibrium water sorption for the cotton fabrics fatigued with laundering was measured by the weighing bottle method.
Laundering caused a progressive increase in the amount of water sorbed in the case of indoor drying without exposing to sunshine.
Laundering caused no chemical change at functional groups, but changed in the internal surface area and specific gravity.
This observation was interpreted by the increase of the surface area and the decrease of the crystallinity of these cotton samples.
