Concerning blouse of woven fabrics, we reported on the amount of ease across bust line and armhole in the J. Home Economics, Vol. 9, No. 2 (1958).
This time, the experiments was carried out to make clear differences between woven fabrics and knitted fabrics.
Four types of thin knitted fabrics were used in this study : two of cotton 100%, and two of polyester 100 %.
And four types of blouses were tested : 1) without any ease across bust line and armhole, 2) 2 cm of ease across bust line and 1 cm across armhole, 3) 4 cm of ease across bust line and 2 cm across armhole, and 4) 6 cm of ease across bust and 3 cm across armhole.
In this report, we explained a outline of experiments, and discussed on the appearance and wearing comfortableness of tested blouses.
Following results were obtained.
1. The amount of ease on blouse made of knitted fabrics may be less than that of woven fabrics.
2. For the blouse with greater elasticity (60% of modules), made of knitted fabrics, « 2 cm of ease across bust line and 1 cm across armhole» and «4 cm of ease across bust line and 2 cm across armhole» were suitable.
For the blouse with less elasticity (25% of modules), made of polyester knitted fabrics, « 4 cm of ease across bust line and 2 cm across armhole» and «6 cm of ease across bust line and 3 cm across armhole» were suitable.
