The replicas of the neck surfaces were made by using a gypsum method for 7 female subjects (average age 19.5) under seven different positions of the neck. Each replica was developed for flat neck surface patterns.
We have investigated the relationship between these 7 developed patterns corresponding to 7 kinds of neck movements and the measurements of neck level. The following data on the drafting of standing-collar were obtained.
1) The measurement of the back neck-line of patterns did not show any change even by the neck movements. The measurement of the front neck-line of patterns in moving has increased from 0.48 to 0.92 cm on the average which was longer than the measurement of the body front neck-line in the normal position.
2) The measurement of the edge-line of patterns has been longer than the neck girth of a match for the edge-line in the normal position according to the neck movements. Those average changes in the large measurement has been from 0.44 cm to 1.10 cm, and in the front edge-line of patterns has been from 0.50 to 1.77 cm.
3) The neck-line shape of patterns in each subject was not similar, but there were individual differences. Therefore, it does not fit to the neck in case of drafting the standard neck-line shape of standing-collar.
