Shaking table tests on model piled rafts in a 1g field (Part 6)

Abstract

A series of horizontal load tests on model piled rafts in dry Toyoura sand has been carried out. In order to examine the applicability of the similitude at 1-g field proposed by Iai (1989), a series of consolidated drained shear tests on Toyoura sand was conducted at confining pressures of 50, 100, 200 and 300 kPa. As a result, the shear modulus, G, is almost proportional to the square root of the confining pressure. This result supports the applicability of Iai's similitude rule to the series of load tests of model piled rafts.
