The therapeutic effect of Ketoprofen (2-(3-Benzoylphenyl) propionic acid) on the signs after sinus operation or tonsillectomy was tested by double blind test using Armitage's sequential analysis.
Each patient was given Ketoprofen or placebo randomly one day before and fore days after the operations which were achieved on left and right side with same clinical condition. The postoperative signs observed in this study were spontaneous pain, pain upon pressur, pain at move, swelling and fever. The grade of these signs at left or right side operation were compared and decided in which side the medicament had been active or inactive by the chief physician.
The decision was compared to the key and the result was plotted on the Armitage's restricted design. The excess preferences had been over the upper boundary when 15 cases were accumulated.
As a global judgement, it was concluded that Ketorofen is a significantly effective drug for the signs after sinus or tonsill operations. From the results of analysis on each sign, it was concluded that Ketoprofen is especially effective for pains but swelling and fever.
