A case of a traumatic foreign body in the maxillary sinus is reported. A 45 year old wood worker was struck in the left face by a piece of grindstone that broke off accidently. This remained in the maxillary sinus and caused secondary symptoms of bloody and purulent rhinorrhea, nasal obstrution and swelling of the left cheek. It was removed operatively 45 days after the accident.
Similar cases in the literature are reviewed and diagnosis, symptoms and treatments are discussed.
