The four cases of acoustic trauma which were typical in each character were applied and we discussed about presumable pathology through their clinical pictures and experimental studies.
In the case of a patient whose hearing loss was induced by an acoustic experiment, the audiogram showed a C5 -dip type of hearing loss with 25 dB, medical therapy had no effects at all. It was considered that hairs of the sensory hair cells might have been injured physically. In the case of a patient who used to expose to intense sound of model airplanes' engine for four years, the audiogram showed a C5-dip with 50 dB less, medical therapy had also no effects. It seemed that hair cells might have been impaired irreversible. In the case of a patient who experienced an explosion of fireworks near his ear, the audiogram showed a horizontal type of hearing loss with 50 dB, medical therapy was ineffective and any responses did not appear. It was considered that the cochlear partition or the window membrane might have been ruptured. In the case of a patient who attended to a rock-and-roll music concert, the audiogram showed a C5-dip with 50dB loss, Co. Q10 (Neuquinon) was dosed and two weeks after his hearing loss was recovered completely. Therefore, we formed a conclusion that hearing loss in this case should be caused by disturbance of metabolism in hair cells and the drug helped recovery from the disease.
