Infections constitute a high percentage of diseases in children in the field of otorhinolaryngology. We examined the efficacy and safety of Banan°-dry syrup (CPDXPR) and the organisms causing infections in 179 patients aged four months to fourteen years. A total of 192 strains of organisms were isolated; S. pneumoniae was predominant. The efficacy rate of Banan°-dry syrup was 89.4% for acute and 77.8% for chronic infections, 85.5% over all. Side effects occrred in 1.7% of the patients, mainly gastrointestinal disorders.
We conclude that this drug is useful in the field of otorhinolaryngology.
