The possibility of energy utilization was examined in the viewpoint of the utilization of the forest biomass in Japan. From the relation between the biomass cost and energy price, around 20,000\/t (5,000\/m^3) is considered a limited biomass cost for energy utilization. Although only energy utilization is difficult to make economical system, the possibility of the low rank wood harvesting and co-production system of both energy and material was pointed out. The automation and/or higher conversion efficiency could reduce the energy price.
