To increase forestry bioenergy use in Japan, it is necessary to utilize forestry residues effectively and enhance international competitiveness of domestic forestry industry. Appropriate forest management is also important to execute its multi function. If advanced forest production system will be adopted in Kitakami-gawa central watershed (5000km^2, located in north-east part of Japan), logging and transportation cost of thinned wood may decrease from current price 8500yen/m^3 to 6000yen/m^3. It will increase forest residues supply potential from 60Gg to 200Gg. These options will expand domestic timber demand due to forest production cost improvement.
