It is known that lignin retards the gasification of biomass. Therefore, it is important to investigate the reaction characteristics of lignin. In this study, guaiacol was used as a model compound of lignin. Also, it is considered that radical donor material should retard char formation. Formic acid was selected as that material. The research was conducted by mixing guaiacol and formic acid. These experiments were conducted by the continuous flow reactor, and reaction pressure, temperature and residence time were 25 MPa, 390 ℃ and 9.6-40 s, respectively. Glucose was also used for this research and the reaction temperature was 400 ℃. Gas product was analyzed by GC. TOC analyzer was used for analyzing liquid product. At long residence time, the reduction of char yield was observed.
