There are many oil-based plastics with low cost and high strength. It is expected to replace them with natural materials due to depletion of fossil resources and the poor biodegradability. In this study, we propose novel bio-based material prepared from wood powder and wheat gluten. Wheat gluten was used to add formability with water. We blended and successfully extruded wood powder, gluten and water ( 1:1:2 or 1:1:3 ) using a noodle making machine. The amount of water added hardly changed the volume of the extruded material during drying at 70°C , resulting in the lower sample density with higher amount of water blended. The sample with higher density demonstrated higher bending strength.
