A continuous slurry flow type hydrothermal reactor equipped with a gravitational sedimentation type solid-liquid separator was built as a trial. In this study, 5 wt% Japanese cypress powder- water slurry was treated in the equipment at 200℃ with 3.0 MPa, and the residence time of 8 min (flow rate: 10 L/min). By this treatment, it was confirmed that hemicellulose-derived mono and oligosaccharide were recovered as the liquid fraction, and cellulose was condensed in the solid fraction.
