A large amount of coal liquefaction residue (CLR) in 1t/d PSU is produced as by-products in the process of coal liquefaction. Therefore, the utilization of CLR as the valuable carbon resources needs to be studied. The pyrolyses of CLR were carried out with supercritical methanol (SCM) and water (SCW). In the reaction with SCM (300-400℃, 80-200kg/cm^2), the hexane-soluble (HS) and the acetone-insoluble were produced with the increases of the reaction pressures and the reaction temperatures, respectively. On the other hand, in the reaction with SCW (400℃, 200-270kg/cm^2), HS and volatile matters were produced, and the progress of polymerization reaction was depressed by the increase of reaction pressures.
