A platinum electrode, which is often utilized as a counter electrode of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC), is very expensive in terms of commercialization. In order to develop low-cost and highly effective carbonaceous counter electrodes for DSC, fabrication process using two different kinds of carbon materials was investigated. the conversion efficiency of DSC using a carbonaceous counter electrode varied with changing the mixing ratio of two different carbon materials. A very high efficiency such as 9.6% efficiency, which was almost the same efficiency as that of DSC using a platinum counter electrode, was obtained in the black-dye-based DSC using an optimized carbonaceous counter electrode.
