Preparation of hematite (α-F_2O_3) nano-rod photoelectrode catalyst by the template-method using anodic aluminium oxide (AAO) film on FTO glass was investigated. It was found that the α-Fe_2O_3 nano-rod formation on FTO glass was much influenced by preparation conditions such as pore-size and thickness of AAO film, calcination procedure and treatment of aqueous H_3PO_4 solution. Finally, solar water splitting performance of prepared hematite nano-rod photoelectrode catalyst was also estimated.
