Bioethanol production is one of the effective utilization of lignocellulosic biomass. Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) is a promising, cost-effective method because saccharification and fermentaion performed at the same time. In SSF, we obtained high ethanol yields by preculture of yeast at 35℃. Also, we demonstrated that yeast can aquire tolerance to 5-HMF by preculture at 35℃. Thus, we suggested that Saccharomyces cerevisiae has the adaptation ability by preculture.
