Techniques for chemical treatment of biomass cellulose to destroy the crystal structure and producing a saccharified solution containing glucose as a main component using a solid catalyst were evaluated by LCA. The intended techniques are the mixed grinding method and the phosphorous acid pretreatment method. Since the mixed pulverization method requires a large amount of energy, a more effective treatment method is required. For the mixed pulverization method and the phosphorous acid pretreatment method, process design is performed based on experimental data. Energy consumption and GHG emissions of both processes are estimated by LCA.
