In order to remove nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from various combustion processes. The effect of vacuum ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 172 nm under the presence of CO2 was investigated. With a residence time of 2.0―10.4s, the NO removal rate reached more than 86.9 % when the initial NO concentration was 600ppm, the O2 concentration was 8.0%, water content was 7.0% and the initial CO2 concentration was 12.2%. The effect of carbon dioxide on photochemical denitration was small.
